11-22-24 THOUGHTS
Wisdom is promoted throughout God’s word. This encouragement to ask for it in faith is not so much an option, as a press toward a single-minded, focused person who loves God with their ALL! This believing person has total faith in God! I do not believe this means believing that God will give you what you ask for, so much that GOD PROVIDES all that we need. It is God that we trust. The “double-minded man” idea is about the whole of life. God’s word here is looking toward a humble, focused, Christ-Centered, life that perseveres to approval! A wonderful promise caps our reading. ASK OF GOD!
Jas 1:5-12 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. 9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; 10 and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away. 11 For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away. 12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
My Prayer:
Father, we beg Your help as we try to develop who we are in Your direction. We want to have a closer relationship with You, as we become more useful to You. Make us single-minded in all.
Keep us from being tossed to and fro by our lust for the world. We would be approved, O God.
Help us to overcome. Teach us to ask in total faith. May we desire Your promises more than all else. In the name of our Savior, Amen.
